too busy tweeting, and blip'ing tracks.
may just delete this account, since I just post journal entries on my livejournal.
no use for this anymore!
I haven't posted here in forever, but decided to create an entry im memory of my grandfather.
I just came back from his funeral. He passed away at the parent's house Friday June 26.
Anyway, on the way from the maosoleum to the funeral home for the reception, I had to listen to the Verve's The drugs don't work because it is very fitting for my Nonno and his passing.
I let my Dad, step sister and step mother take turns listening to it as well.
So, in honour of Nonno Nicolino,
this song goes out to him.Wow...the newest Peter, Bjorn & John
album Living Things has such a different sound from their other albums. But, it is really really good!
Seriously, so many great tracks on this album! I love them all! And each one seems to hit a different emotion in me as well. I wish when doing my half-assed reviews of albums, I didn't always come across as so "emo", considering I sure as hell ain't!
But the music I like the most, is the music that can evoke so many different feelings and emotions for me. And for some reason, these guys have the ability to do this to me!
No wonder I fell in love with their music a few years ago.
Anyway, the track I am choosing for today just fits in nicely with the rainy weather. If you do get the chance to hear the whole album though, you'll hear how it is vastly different from their other albums.
I guess since so much of who I am, stems from my experiences of my past, this song just hit me a bit harder than the others...so far.
I know the album is not out until April 7th, but I could not resist posting about my love for Doves
new album, Kingdom of Rust.I waited so long for their new album, and was so excited when I heard the self titled single off the new album...and it was gorgeous, and just so...damn, I can never put into words what their music does to me.
And there is something with Jimi Goodwin's voice that just touches something in my soul. To me, his voice is beautiful.
Anyway, this entire new album, is awesome. Not one single dud track on it, and I am glad...cause there is nothing worse than anticipating a new album, only to have it disappoint when it finally comes out.
These guys, have yet to disappoint me so far. I just wish I hadn't had to wait so long, along with all the other Doves fans, for this new album.
But trust me, you will be happy when you hear it.
If I had to pick fave tracks, so so hard...cause I love them all.
But, I will post a track that I haven't found posted anywhere yet.
And don't worry, this album is full of pounding drums, lush guitars, full on rock out modes, and is just brilliant!!!!
So, enjoy this track...the first time I heard it, my heart stopped.
Hello again, it's been a long time. What is making me appear once again? Could it be a new Super Furry Animals
album perhaps? Why yes! Yes that is the reason I am posting.
Soooo, my thoughts on their latest album, Dark Days/Light Years.
As you all know, this is my main band that I adore, and so far...every album they have put out has grabbed ne straight away.
Not so with this album, sadly...it has taken me about 6 listens to finally dig it. Also, they won't be doing any indoor concerts for this album, so that should tell you something. This album is basically one big jam session. All the vocals are dispersed throughout the band, so Gruff isn't the main singer. I dig all their voices, so that isn't a problem. I think that my problem with this album, is there are no beautiful heart wrenching songs on here.
So, if you're a true fan, such as myself, you will eventually like this album, unless you liked it straight away, in which case you don't need to worry...
but, if you are someone who has never heard these guys before, I suggest you don't start familiarizing yourself with this album.
The music is good, and it is very rockin'...but if you want to hear what made so many people fall in love with these guys, opt to start with either Radiator, Guerrila, or Rings around the world....then you can safely listen to all their albums, and feel the love!!!!
So far, my fave tracks on this album are:
- Inaugaral trams
- Inconvenience
- The very best of Neil Diamond
- White socks/flip flops
Yes, it has been quite a few months since I last posted here...life has been draining me, but I am soldiering on. Grandfather is still alive, now living with the parents, but now that is causing even more stress.
Anyway, new year, same shit...right? But I shall survive!!!!!
The track I choose for today, is off Coldplay's
last album, Viva La Vida. And wait...what's this? The song mentions ghosts? What a surprise! The song in questions is.....42
Speaking of ghosts and such...I am delving deeper into what exactly my psychic abilities are, learning to shield/ground myself and just learning more who I am, on a daily basis.
So all my silence on Vox has been spent with me figuring stuff out.
Lifelong process, but I am willing to work on it as long as I live.
So, things are still stressful in my life, with the family issues that are going on, etc. The only lightness amongst all this darkness, has been the discovery of a band, that is new to me. I had seen a video game commerical the other day, and the song in the commercial totally grabbed me. Thanks to an lj friend, she found out right away for me who the artist was.
So, thanks to that info, I downloaded all albums by the band DeVotchKa.
And holy crap, are they ever amazing. I have not been able to stop playing their music since I got it all. The song in the commercial is called "How it Ends" and is totally not a song you would expect to be advertising a video game commercial.Anyway, of course...while listening to the album of the same name released in 2004 ,
To my delight...I heard a song, about.....ghosts!Woohooo!!! Another ghostly song for me to become fixated with! So funny how all these years I never paid attention to songs about spirits or ghosts, but now that all that is on my brain 24/7 is the paranormal, and learning to tap into my psychic abilities, I notice things right away in songs from so many artists.
Anyway, back to the band. Their music is a mix of greek, romani, folk, etc ...so good!!!!
This entire album is brilliant.
But now, onto the track.
Here it is...This place is Haunted
I spent the entire day with family yesterday. I then went to visit my grandfather in the hospital for a couple of hours.
Today's track goes out to Nonno. Don't mock the Simon and Garfunkel
Nothing makes you sadder than seeing someone you love wasting away in a hospital.
I don't want to talk about it anymore right now, so instead, I'll let the song speak for itself.
Bridge over troubled water
Too much going on in my life at the moment for me to update like I used to.
I am sad right now. And I decided to listen to Arcade Fire
This track got me all teary today, so I figured I would share it with those that haven't heard it before.
I am waitin' 'til I don't know when,
cause I'm sure it's gonna happen then.
Time keeps creepin' through the neighborhood,
killing old folks, wakin' up babies
just like we knew it would.
All the neighbors are startin' up a fire,
burning all the old folks the witches and the liars.
My eyes are covered by the hands of my unborn kids,
but my heart keeps watchin'
through the skin of my eyelids.
They say a watched pot won't ever boil,
well I closed my eyes and nothin' changed,
just some water getting hotter in the flames.
It's not a lover I want no more,
and it's not heaven I'm pining for,
but there's some spirit I used to know,
that's been drowned out by the radio!
They say a watched pot won't ever boil,
you can't raise a baby on motor oil,
just like a seed down in the soil
you gotta give it time.
Sorry about your grandfather. I never knew either of mine. Although it doesn't take away from the sadness, you are... read more
